Rohan Shrestha was surrounded by cameras ever since he can remember. “I had more cameras than toys when I was a kid,” he says. Growing up under his father, Rakesh Shrestha’s legacy of photography was a tough act to follow for Rohan.
Rohan was not sure if he wanted to take up photography professionally. But when he was 19, his journey started-with a point and shoot Nikon cool pix camera walking along the streets of New York.
In 2004 he started to work with his father as an assistant, and also worked under other photographers in the field of fashion, celebrity, product and travel. The motive was to learn as much as he could.
A year later, Jitesh Pillai, editor of Filmfare, put his faith in a young 25 year old photographer and had Rohan shoot the cover of Filmfare with Ranbir Kapoor. That propelled him into working with the Indian Film Industry.
That shoot went well. Since then he has never looked back. He has now carved a niche for himself in the cosmos of fashion photography having shot celebrities including Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Dia Mirza, Sonakshi Sinha, Kalki Koechlin, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Abhishek Bachchan, Farhan Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, Abhay Deol, Yuvraj Singh and lot more.
His work has been featured in some of the leading magazines such as Vogue, GQ, L’Offeciel, Harpers Bazaar, Verve, Cosmopolitan, Garzia, Marie Claire, Filmfare, FHM, Man’s World, Femina, Help! And People.
