Shafqat Amanat Ali comes from a long line of Patiala family. He is the son of the legendary Pakistani singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan and is in the ninth generation in his family. Ever since he was young, he had a passion for music.
The biggest strength for Shafqat was the fact that he had the full support of his family. Singing was his pre-decided career choice. His family had been doing experiments with all forms of music for several generations and no one opposed his need to find his own genre. Bollywood motivated Shafqat to become a playback singer. His biggest inspiration was his father Ustad Amanat Ali Khan who Shafqat considers to be the best singer he has ever listened to.
Breaking into the music industry and leaving a mark can be difficult for most new singers. However, Shafqat’s transition to Bollywood was made easy by his first and popular album ‘Saagar.’ The protege had to struggle for 16 years to make his mark on the industry. He takes on every new assignment as a challenge, feeling the need to prove himself in front of his fans. His list of favourite singers include S.D.Burman, R.D.Burman, Madan Mohan, Salil Choudhary, Hemant Kumar, Sohail Rana and Nisar Bazmi.
Winning a Grammy Award has been one of Shafaqat Amanat Ali’s greatest ambitions in his career.
