Named after his mother, the designer brand ‘Surendri‘ has made waves in the fashion industry ever since their first collection was released. Yogesh Chaudhari is passionate about the fashion industry and this can be reflected in his work. From making costumes for an eleventh grade school play, to presenting Bridal Wear at Lakme Fashion Week in 2015, Yogesh knows how to elevate single motifs with bright colours.
Yogesh’s latest collection named ‘Mithu’ is fixated on parrot motifs situated on vibrant hues and neutral tones—a classy statement for any Surrendrigirl. For his SS15 line, he derives inspiration from the physical form of parrots. The collection sports elements such as jharoka backs, actual parrot motifs, feathered tails, and employs techniques like applique, foiling, flocking, hand and machine embroidery. The collection pays homage to a modern Indian woman looking to the past for an almost costume like presentation, as is the beauty of evening Indian wear.
Every year, Yogesh presents a new collection, all of which are based upon new inspirations which are usually drawn from his personal experiences. His PacMan collection is an excellent example of this. He believes that relevance is the key to his success and strives to create products which don’t already exist.
